You've heard the expression 'the eyes are the window to the soul'

You've heard the expression 'eyes are the window of the soul'

God's Word tells us in Matthew 6:22, "The light of the body is the eye:
if therefore thine eye be single (healthy),the whole body shall be full
of light."

It goes on to say that if your eye be evil the whole body is full of
darkness. There is something very telling and very special about our
eyes beyond the fact that they give us sight.

"The eye is made up of different parts, the cornea, iris, pupil, lens,
retina, and optic nerve." All these parts functioning together allow us
to see the beautiful world that God has created in living color.

"The light waves that the eye receives are transmitted to the brain
along the optic nerve, the brain quickly translates them into images."

I don't think there's a greater physical gift that God has given. It's
sad to think that some people are totally blind, others partially or
need glasses, others are color blind.

"Through our eyes pass images that are stored in the brain like a
computer." For instance after we return from a trip to the ocean or
the mountains we can still see in our minds eye the beautiful sight,
recalling what our eyes saw and was recorded in our brain.

Scientists say that we can remember about 85% of what we see. How
important is it that we only allow the good, true and pure to pass
through our eyes to be stored in our brain. The evil one has done much
to destroy mankind through television, books, magazines etc. This is
his way of spreading unbelief and darkness. If he can pervert our sight
he can captivate our minds and take over our lives. That's a very
serious thing to think about.

Let us purpose in our hearts today that our eyes are used only for what
is pleasing in God's sight.

Psalm 26:3, "For Thy loving kindness is before mine eyes and I have
walked in Thy truth."
